Presentation of the AESSE laboratory
The Advanced Electronic Systems and Sustainable Energy Laboratory (AESSE) was created in September 2016. The laboratory includes 04 Professors, 02 Lecturers, 08 Assistants, 03 Doctors, and 22 Doctoral students.
The research work carried out within the laboratory revolves around two research programs each comprising three projects :

Program #1 : R&D.I. in the Design of Advanced Electronic Systems

Project #1.1  CAO: Techniques for Optimization and Design Assistance

  • Development of tools to help design analog, mixed and RF circuits,
  •  Synthesis techniques for circuits and systems,
  •  Symbolic analysis and related techniques,
  •  (Meta)modeling of performance functions,
  •  Techniques for optimizing the sizing of circuits/systems (Applied Metaheuristics).

Project #1.2   Characterization and modeling of components and systems

  •  Thermal characterization of electrical components and systems,
  •  Proposing electro-magneto-thermal models at different levels of abstractions,
  •  The definition of generic models for the simulation and co-simulation of heterogeneous systems,
  •  Study of the interaction between these models.

       Project #1.3   Advanced Systems Engineering

It includes two sub-projects :

                Sub-project #1.3.1 : « Image processing, HMI and e-health»

  •  The development and implementation of a solution for image capturing by airborne remote-controlled robots,
  •  The study and development of solutions for the storage and/or for the transmission of images in real time,
  •  The study of pattern recognition techniques,
  •  The study of geolocalisation techniques,
  •  The realization of a decision support and HMI platform,
  •  The development of solutions for applications dedicated to e-health.

                Sub-project #2 : « Embedded electronics for sustainable agriculture»

  •  The development and implementation of energy management systems and input/processing/action in real time and remotely (in precision agriculture),
  •  Study on sensors and sensor networks and related communication protocols/systems,
  •  Mastery of optimization techniques for the deployment of wireless sensor networks,
  •  Study of the effect of data variability and uncertainties on control
  •  Modeling the problems of variability in the evolution of trees and the phenomena to be controlled,
  •  Study of sensors and renewable energy supply mode.

Program #2 : Energy Systems for a Sustainable Environment

Project #1  Modeling, optimization and control of electrical power systems

  •  The design of special electrical machines,
  •  Optimization of the ‘source-converter’ association,
  •  The integration of electric actuators in applications…,
  •  Control and optimization of massive electrical power systems,
  • The development of computer tools allowing the sizing and analysis of specific power systems,
  • The realization of experimental test benches around prototypes of the machines designed.

Project #2  Innovative systems for energy management

  •  Modeling, Control and Optimization of renewable generation means,
  •  Integration of renewable resources in power supply networks (connected, isolated and embedded),
  •  Development of smart solutions for energy management.

Project #3  Smart transport systems and assistance for people with motor handicaps

  •  The optimization, control and diagnosis of the actuator-converter assembly in on-board energy systems,
  •  Improving the performance and management of energy resources in low-emission powertrains,
  •  Integration of innovative ecological propulsion systems around on-board electric actuators and generators,
  •  The production of vehicle prototypes (land, air or sea),
  •  The realization of ecological wheelchairs.
